Chiropractick Health

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP, JavaScript (jQuery)

The third small project at work which I oversaw from start to finish.

The client wanted a trendy, fashionable site, that still looked clean and not unprofessional. Initially I found it hard to design, tending to go for a more simple clinical look, but after a few redesigns I'm happy how i came out.

Social Work Hub

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP

The second small project at work which I oversaw from start to finish.

The client wanted a clean, professional looking site. It was tricky to make the site look full with so little pages and content, so repetition of the content was necessary.

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP, JavaScript (jQuery), Flash (AS2)

I had to be the first point of contact with the client and manage my time well to fit the site around my current projects. I completed the whole site from the initial design work to the final build. The first small project at work which I oversaw from start to finish.

The client needed a small but functional site, complete with a full CMS system and a flash gallery to show off his work.

Pow Comics

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP, MYSQL, JavaScript (jQuery)

My final year project at university, which I received a first for.

The brief was to create a unique new media product. I decided to create a site based around web comics, which I enjoy reading. I found that whilst sites were already in place to host and subscribe to web comics, they all lacked either specific features, or eye catching design. This was also my first attempt at producing a full site using OOP and an MVC structure.

I think I met the brief well, and people still continue to use the site now. I am going to continue maintaining and improving the site

Bob E-card Set

Technology: Flash

Another uni project; the brief was to create a 3 e-card set based around a common theme. I decided to take a simplistic route, and went with a small black blob I affectionately called Bob.

I tried to make each e-card amusing, both in the text and animation. I spent a lot of time making sure the animation was smooth (all three run at 40 fps) and stylised.

The set comprises of 2 standard animation e-cards, and 1 interactive e-card.

Munky Designs

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP

This was my first portfolio design. It was used back when I created sites with a friend. I tried to make it simple and easy to use, and let the work be the main focus.

A few years on, I can see its flaws much easier, but I still think it is a solid site design.

Erant

Technology: HTML/CSS, PHP, MYSQL, JavaScript

My first serious attempt at creating a site people might actually use. For half a year, it was actually successful!

However, as my time became occupied with other projects and university, its popularity started to wane.

I have plans to create a streamlined version of the site that include live updates sometime soon.

Flash Gallery

Technology: Flash, XML

An old flash gallery I made for a previous portfolio

When I made this, I was still getting to grips with flash, so it is a little basic and rough in areas. It's fully dynamic, feeding off an XML file.

Note it also contains some old work, which I will not be displaying in this section, so feel free to have a further look at that!

Password Project

Technology: Flash, PHP, MYSQL

Yet another uni project. The brief was to creat an art piece using some form of technology. I decided to create a flash piece, visualising how secure passwords are.

Users enter a password, which is then stored in a database. The password is then retrieved when the flash is loaded, and a visualisation is created based on how secure it is (number of characters, numbers, special characters etc).

The flash then loops through the passwords, changing the properties of the piece as the password changes.

I aimed to make it visually entertaining, without it initially (or at all) being obvious what the message was. My main accomplishment in this piece of work the way the piece changes between each password; the effect is smooth and reminds me of a school of fish changing direction.
